THE CITY

Barcelona, second city of Spain with 2 million inhabitants, is a metropolis. The most cosmopolitan and economically active city, located in the North East of Spain (province of Catalunya). It has always proved its will to be modern, to follow the latest international tendencies or be ahead of them. Barcelona is a centre of Modernist architecture and is distinguished specially by the works of genial Antoní Gaudí. Offers a lively street life, an extensive nightlife and international atmosphere. Its location implies easy access to Mediterranean beaches and skiing facilities near the French border.

THE SCHOOL

The don Quijote school is located in 2 stately buildings, just a block away from the famous Rambla de Cataluna, the Rambla which connects the old city by the sea with the impressive 19th century ‘El Ensanche’ district. Like all the other Ramblas, this boulevard stems from the Plaza de Cataluna, the heart of the city centre, and the school is no more than 200 meters from this square. Both the bus stop and metro are a short distance from the school. The schools are spacious with 18 large classrooms. The school has a central meeting area, the living room, where you can read, watch TV or do homework outside class hours. A comforting idea. Equipped with a multimedia classroom with self-study facilities such as computers with training programs, word games, free internet access, videos and many books.

THE CITY

Granada is a wonderful city with 260,000 inhabitants, which lies 700 meters above sea level. The famous Alhambra dominates the cityscape. The old city walls guard the rich heritage from the time of the Moors, which gives the city its individual character. El Albaicín, the old Moorish district at the foot of the fortress, has been declared a national monument. The district is a web of narrow alleys where there is so much to see. Granada is a typical Andalusian city. You learn the Flamenco in the street by - like everyone else - joining in with the touring dance groups. The many students in Granada play an important role in the lively and youthful atmosphere of the city. International contacts are easily made here. The area surrounding Granada is extraordinarily diverse. On one hand there are the peaks of the Sierra Nevada, more than 3000 meters high with snow until well into the Spring, and on the other hand, a little further away, the desert landscape in the area of Tabernes. In the neighbourhood of Granada there is also the beautiful coast where you can sunbathe, swim and eat freshly caught sardines at one of the many beach stands.

THE SCHOOL

don Quijote Granada occupies an entire 5 story building. The school is light and airy, with lots of windows and balconies overlooking the street. The first and second floor each hold three very spacious class rooms. The third and fourth floor are dedicated to student accommodation. The atmosphere at the school is intimate and relaxed. Above all, the building is centrally heated and air- conditioned: both indispensable features in Granada, where summer and winter temperatures can be extreme. don Quijote Granada is equipped with modern teaching aids such as computers and audio-visual equipment. The recreation room is based on the lower level. Here, you can watch TV or a video, listen to music, read books or newspapers, play board games or darts, etc. The school resides in a safe and quiet area in the city centre. Its location is at a stone's throw from the Cathedral and within walking distance of the Alhambra, El Albaicín and the Conference Centre. Buses depart not far from the school almost every hour in the direction of the Sierra Nevada or the Mediterranean.

Madrid is the capital city of Spain with 3 million inhabitants, located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula. Because of this strategic position, Madrid is the crossroad for almost everything in Spain: National and multinational companies, historic-artistic monuments, concerts, exhibitions, flamenco, festivals and popular parties... Madrid has also a remarkable collection of museums and galleries, beautiful parks and gardens and a wild nightlife. In short, a very lively and exciting city, with a high level of safeties and humanity.

THE CITY

Salamanca lies on a plateau by the Tormes river and is one of the most spectacular Renaissance cities in Europe. Through the centuries the sandstone buildings have gained an exquisite golden glow which has given Salamanca the nickname `La Dorada', the Golden City. In 1218, Alfonso IX of Castile and León founded a university there. This makes it one of the oldest universities in Europe and has made Salamanca world famous. The city is large enough (180,000 inhabitants) to be able to offer the advantages of a real city, but at the same time it keeps the intimacy of a village. In Salamanca, the inhabitants speak the 'purest' Spanish in Spain - Castilian. For this reason Salamanca is enormously popular with people from all over the world who want to learn Spanish. Contacts are made easily. You don't have to make a rendezvous as you are bound to see everyone in the Plaza Mayor, one of the finest squares in Spain and known as the living room of the Salamantinos. As there is such a varied range of nationalities, it is tempting to keep to fellow don Quijote students. Salamanca is however, a real university city, Spanish students are everywhere and you can go practically everywhere on foot. The choice is yours: there are plenty of places where only Spaniards go. The area around Salamanca also offers many facilities for cultural and sporting day-trips to villages, the mountains or to the many lakes.

THE SCHOOL

The don Quijote school in Salamanca is situated in the heart of the historic city centre. The building is 100 meters from the renowned University of Salamanca and 2 minutes from the splendid and famous Plaza Mayor. The school is a recently restored 16th century monastery. The modern materials used during the renovation are almost in natural balance with the richness, style and class of previous centuries. You enter the school through a beautiful courtyard. This courtyard and the garden divide the school into two parts. In the first part you will find the secretariat and the office. The second part houses 11 classrooms, multimedia classroom with self-study facilities such as computers with free internet access a recreation room furnished with a video, piano, hi-fi, etc., a library, a staff room and three offices.

THE CITY

The Canary Islands are Spain's tropical paradise. The island of Tenerife is the largest of the Canary archipelago, 2,053 square kilometres. The capital of the island is Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which has 220,000 inhabitants. It is a cheerful, light-filled, modern city. Tenerife has an extremely varied plant life, large, wooded mountains, extensive areas where banana, tomato, potato and other agricultural products are grown. The beaches with soft, clean sand are sometimes black and sometimes golden. The island of eternal spring because of its peerless climate is full of huge contrasts and has a great variety of scenery in the different regions. There are flights every day from and to Madrid, several times a week from and to Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga and Seville. There are also many links from this main island to the rest of the Canaries, especially between Tenerife and Gran Canaria, with several ferry services every day.

THE SCHOOL

don Quijote school is located in a traditional Canarian building, 5 minutes walking from the beach 'Playa Martianez' at 2 minutes from the famous Lagos Martianez on the Colón Avenue.

Due to its location you can easily reach the libraries, museums, and other cultural sites. The school has a patio, a central meeting area, the living room, where you can read, watch TV or do homework outside class hours. A comforting idea.
